Activities

The Bridge to Doctorate program holds biweekly meetings given by Bridge to Doctorate program members. There are mentoring and outreach activities as well as professional development opportunities.

    • Two BD students are going to be participation in an orientation panel for undergrads who are willing to apply to STEM graduate programs.

    • An event intended to expose first and second year students to undergraduate research. Presented current research
  • NSBE Graduate Panel For NSBE Undergraduates (October 22, 2019)
    • NSBE graduate students are planning to have a panel of graduate students to share their graduate experiences with the NSBE Undergraduate Chapter, to provide academic advice, study tips, work/social life balance, provide personal support and GPA recovery tips.
  • ACS-CVS Youger chemist committee Industry networking series (October 25, 2019)
    • Networking event where current graduate students and industry members in chemistry and related fields are encouraged to form meaningful connections and collaborate. Hosted by MAX Analytical Technologies an analytical instrumentation startup specialized in gas analysis and GC-FTIR. Organized by ACS-CVS-YCC
  • GEM GRAD LAB Panel (October 26, 2019)
    • Spoke to undergraduates in an effort to give a perspective of what life is like as a graduate student, and to both expand upon realities of being a graduate student and dispel misconceptions regarding applying and being a graduate student.

  • Sisters in Stem (SiS) Conference (November 1, 2019)
    • Volunteered for UConn College of Engineering Diversity and Outreach Center 1st annual Sisters in STEM (SIS) conference. The program introduces young women who are traditionally underrepresented in science, mathematics, engineering and technology careers to the allure of STEM, along with helping them develop a stronger sense of self.

      • Annual LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate (BD) poster presentation and the symposium was held on Friday, April 20th at UConn. Each spring LSAMP BD fellows present their research to other faculty and students. This event is an opportunity for BD fellows to go through the process of making a research poster and presenting their work to the audience in a friendly  & supporting environment. Dean Kazerounian and senior associate Dean Accorsi were among faculty who attended the event.

      • LSAMP Bridge to the Docotrate fellows particpated as poster judges at the NE ASEE conference in April 2016.

    Students and affiliated staff from the six universities (Northeastern, UMass Amherst, URI, Tufts, UConn, and WPI) of the New England LSAMP Alliance joined on February 17th for a day filled with learning, research opportunities, inspirational speakers, and new friendships.
